Samuel Covert

Chief Investment Officer

For Sam, investing was never just a career path. Long before it became a profession, it was an obsession. Even as a child Sam immersed himself in the study of financial markets, devouring investment books with the ambition of becoming one of the greats.

Decades later, it’s clear he accomplished what he set out to achieve. After studying computer engineering at the University of Miami as a Mas Canosa scholar and Richard B. Fisher scholar, Sam developed the analytical and systems-driven mind that would eventually define his investment philosophy. His passion for market evolved into a career that began on Wall Street in 2003 and now spans more than two decades across institutional investing, hedge funds, technology, and advanced portfolio strategy. Along the way he also helped build several successful startup companies, including Guggenheim Partners, Noctua, and Operam.

What makes Sam’s approach unique? His philosophy centers around “the marriage of algorithms and alpha,” blending computational finance, predictive analytics, and AI-driven insights with disciplined investment judgment. You could say he thrives at the intersection of data and human decision-making which means he turns sophisticated quantitative research into strategies families can actually understand and feel confident implementing.

Outside the office, Sam’s world revolves around his family. He and his wife are raising four children in Westlake Village, California where life is filled to bursting with sports, activities, travel, and time together outdoors. An avid reader, golfer, and fisherman, he also maintains a deep commitment to philanthropy and giving back. This dedication has been shaped in part by his son’s successful battle with cancer several years ago, an experience that strengthened his passion for supporting pediatric cancer initiatives and creating meaningful impact.
